Energy Audit: There’s An App For That

An app that allows you to turn your smartphone or tablet into an energy auditing tool – it’s not hard to imagine that coming in handy, especially if you’re a real estate agent, home renovation contractor, heating specialist or any of the myriad other professionals who deal with properties.

That’s the target user for Home Energy Performance, a newly launched app available for Apple ($12.99) or Android ($14.59) devices, from Qreative Meadias.

You feed the app info about the property – its location, dimensions, window types, etc. – and it spits out a report that’s headlined by a letter grade. Just like in school,  A+ is best, for highest efficiency, but at the other end scores go past F and all the way down to G- for lowest efficiency. The report, which can be exported as a PDF, goes on to list items that might have hurt the property’s rating, and make suggestions for remedies.

EarthTechling can’t claimed to have tried the app, but the screenshots provided by Qreative Medias did reveal curious translations. To wit: “Welcome to Home Energy Performance! HEP is an advanced software for everyone: Auditing a home, generating Rating & Report, Monitoring Consumption and Making your Home better with Advices from the latest international Green Building standards. But it is also: a daily live news and a community to share your projects and questions… Join us!”
