Desktop display provider NEC has announced the 17-inch AS171 LCD monitor, the successor to the ASLCD73VX-BK display and the newest addition to the AccuSync Series. In NEC’s announcement, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions Lynn Gu stated that the company continues to enjoy a “strong demand for the 17-inch standard aspect ratio from enterprise and small-to-medium business sectors, and our goal with this display is to offer improved green technology, energy efficiency and eco-friendly features.”
Targeted at “small-to-medium-sized businesses”, the AS171 is priced at an affordable $159 and, like other models in the series, sports environmentally friendly and energy efficient features: the AS171 consumes 21 percent less power than its predecessor and contains 50 percent less mercury content. The display has also been awarded an EPEAT Silver rating from EPEAT, a nonprofit organization that awards electronics products three levels of ratings (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) based on a product’s environmentally friendly and energy efficient feature set.
In terms of technical specifications, the AS171 features VGA and DVI connectivity, resolutions up to 1280×1024, ergonomic tilt functions for comfort, and a two-step “ECO Mode” that allows users to swap between two energy-saving modes.
