Turning Human Poo Into A Clean Energy Source

The United States creates 40 million tons of human waste each year. True Bio Electric (TBE) has recently acquired patented technology with the aim of turning all that brown waste into green energy. The company has inked a deal to have exclusive rights to market and use technology it says is a called “closed loop bio-filtration” system.

The technology and corresponding apparatus is reportedly able to take human or animal waste along with ocean water and convert it into fresh water, while also generating clean green electricity and organic soil. The invention is used to take the sludge from municipal waste-water plants and and turn it into pellets that can be used in soil as a fertilizer. During the dehydrating process of this sludge, the conveying of hot air is transferring energy and cleaning seawater into fresh drinking water.

True Bio Electric said it wants to be the leader in developing and promoting the process which can conserve and recycle organic and mineral by-products while also helping improve the quality of soil, air and water supplies. One closed loop bio-filtration plant is estimated to cost $5 million to build, but will get ride of 4.5 million tons of human feces per year, the company says.

Contaminated water from inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene is said to be responsible for  more than 80 percent of all disease in developing countries. Human waste is causes the transmission of schistosomiasis, cholera, typhoid and other infectious diseases that affect billions of people.
