Sure, we’ve already got energy-tracking systems and smart meters, but future houses will likely have a far superior intelligence. Appliances, heating and cooling, and even entertainment systems will all be linked, learning our habits and adjusting to environmental changes.

In all the excitement about smart houses, security often gets lost in the shuffle. Phones, computers, and even government databases hacked nearly every day. It stands to reason that as houses get smarter, so will the criminals who would break into them. So are the risks really worth the rewards?
