Green Vacation Rentals: A Photo Gallery

Everyone needs a vacation from time to time, a break from the daily grind. Be it swimming, skiing, or simply exploring a new city, everyone has a favorite vacation-time activity. But there’s one thing that maybe you shouldn’t take a break from: being eco-friendly. If you’re trying to stay clean and green at home, at work, with what you drive (or don’t drive), and what you buy, remember that how you vacation makes a difference to the environment, too. When you consider the driving, the not-always-state-of-the-art appliances in rental homes, and all the little plastic souvenirs begging to come home with you, the typical vacation can cost a lot more than money.

This week we’ve complied a collection of photos (with accompanying info and links on each photo page) showcasing some of the greenest places you can go to escape the everyday rush while still being environmentally responsible. These vacation spots are elegant and luxurious while featuring eco-friendly assets like energy-efficient appliances, local and reclaimed building materials, and solar power and hot water. Don’t forget the sunblock!
