LEED-accredited designer Sabrina Soto has a thing for green giveaways, it seems. First, we reported that she will be teaming up with Target on a green home makeover sweepstakes prize for Earth Month–now we’ve gotten wind that she’ll be working with Home and Garden Television (HGTV) to showcase the network’s fourth annual Green Home Giveaway house in Denver, Colorado.
Soto will be appearing with Jamie Durie, host of the popular series The Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie, on the HGTV Green Home 2011 special premiering on April 16, during which they will introduce viewers to the lovely green home up for grabs this year: a modern prairie-style, single-family house located in the Stapleton community of Denver, an eco-progressive community created on the site of the city’s former airport.
Uniquely styled and eco-friendly, this 2,400-square-foot, custom-built home has been certified LEED Platinum in recognition of its energy efficiency, indoor air quality and attention to sustainable design. It is part of a grand prize package that includes (as a little added bonus) $100,000 and a 2011 GMC Terrain. This latter item seems to be a little odd for a “green” giveaway though…wouldn’t a hybrid or electric vehicle have been a better choice?
The contest is open for entries as of Thursday, April 14, and runs through Thursday, June 2. Interested parties are free to enter once per day on HGTV.com and FrontDoor.com, or as often as they wish via regular mail; one lucky winner will be selected at random.
