In the market for a green home in LA? If so, you’ve probably already heard plenty about The Mews, a 23 single family home development in Atwater Village, slated for grand opening this weekend that looks to have some very impressive green creds.
The homes include such eco-features as grid-tied solar electricity systems, extensive daylighting, operable clerestory windows, natural ventilation, permeable paving, bamboo flooring, drought tolerant landscaping, and energy efficient appliances, according to Jetson Green. Designed by award-winning architects Corsini + Stark, they also feature many of the hallmarks of modern architecture, such as open floor plans, high ceilings and walls of glass that open to private outdoor courtyards.
Due to the local “small lot” ordinance, these 1,500-1,600 square foot homes are apparently going for about a $100 less per square foot than most homes in the area, so at $599,000, they’re practically a steal by California standards. Oh, and did we mention that the developer notes that each home comes with an intimate outdoor area “perfect for entertaining or just chilling?”
