For those of us in Portland, Oregon, where EarthTechling is headquartered, the Portland International Auto Show each year gives us a chance to check out new green cars coming to dealerships in the months following. This particular auto show, as we’ve seen in years past, tends to give great focus to autos with less of a carbon footprint, which makes a lot of sense when you consider how rabid Portland is when it comes to environmental lifestyles.
For 2012 the Portland auto show has its Eco Center, which, according to the show’s organizers, has information on a variety of green initiatives, including the “green highway” infrastructure, reports on hybrid vehicles that have driven more than 200,000 miles, and even how to install an electric charging station in the home. The Eco-Center will also feature a variety of companies that market charging stations for home or business.
Also, scattered around the show floor you’ll find the latest green cars on display from the likes of Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Honda. To preview some of the eco car technology on display for you, we sent one of our staff to the show to take photos of what you can expect to see. Hit the thumbnails below for more detail on each of the vehicles plus links to previous coverage and the manufacturer’s website.
