Recargo Updates EV Charging App

A Los Angeles based mobile application company called Recargo has updated its EV car charger location iPhone and iPad program to include real-time information that is crowd-sourced from users, a news feed that is managed by, and a photo sharing feature.

There are several iPhone apps available for electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid owners who are looking for a place to refuel while out and about. We’ve highlighted one from Xatori that also uses crowd-sourcing, one from the infrastructure company Coulomb, one from Ecotality, and even one from premium automaker BMW.

Users of the Recargo app can leave recommendations for restaurants and nearby shops for others to visit as they wait for their car to charge. As seen in the image above, charging stations on the map are accompanied by Google Street View, which we recently reported has partnered with U.S. Department of Energy on a similar project to create a map of charging units around the country.

Recargo claims over 1,000 stations are currently available for mapping inside the mobile app, which can be downloaded for free within the iTunes store.
