Electric Powerboard Ready To Launch

We may not be to the point in technology where we can all ride on magic magnetic hover-boards as seen Back to the Future II, but we may be one step closer with the electric vehicle called the Scarpar.

First spotted on the Gizmag blog, the motorized board is like an all-terrain, oversized snowboard that can reach a specifically limited 28 miles per hour, making it necessary, the manufacturer warns, to wear a full bodysuit whenever operating the product.

Controlled by a 2.4ghz wireless controller for braking and accelerating, the top-end Scarpar is equipped with a brushless, DC electric motor and powered by a 2 kilowatt LiFePo4 battery pack, giving the powerboard a range of 2o miles, or roughly 1 hour of use.

Although the Scarpar isn’t the strangest contraption we’ve covered on EarthTechling – contestants in that category include the YikeBike and an electric unicycle – the electric off-road skateboard is a bit out-there, especially for the near $4,000 price tag for the top model. Still, there’s something dangerously cool about the idea of keeping up with traffic and sufring the asphalt, so to speak.
