Porsche 911 Electric Conversion Taking Bids

We recently covered a few electric vehicles on eBay that were a bit eccentric, to say the least, but a new listing for an all-electric 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera is more practical in style, and with a six cylinder, 3.4 liter engine, perhaps more enjoyable as well.

Equipped with a Warp 11 DC motor, and powered by Odyssey 1500 AGM batteries which can be charged by a Manzanita PFC40, the electric vehicle has a range of only 25 miles. The seller, however, says the lead batteries can be upgraded to lithium-ion batteries, which could give the car a supposed range of 100 miles.

Ready to bid? $40,000 will probably win you the car, but act fast as the auction closes on May 19th. Still, keep in mind that a used, gasoline version of the car with the same 103,000 mileage costs approximately $15,000 according to estimates from a Kelly Blue Book value report. Of course, that would take all the fun out of owning a modified electric car.
