Linde E1 Electric Kart Sets Speed Record

The E1, an electric kart from Linde Material Handling, a German-based manufacturer of electric lift trucks, recently set the Guinness Book of World Records for going from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.45 seconds.

Weighing just over 350 pounds and equipped with a 110 lbs-ft torque and a 96 volt lithium-ion battery, the E1 has a top speed of approximately 75 miles per hour. Linde is quick to point out that the motor, power units, display, steering system and software of the E1 can all be found in the Linde electric lift truck, but one shouldn’t expect the same results. And besides, warehouses are no place for racing.
