BMW Launches Electric Vehicle Mobile App

BMW has launched a mobile app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices that allows users to determine how electric vehicle ownership may benefit their lives.

Users will enter information about three “trips” into the app, which will then give drivers a compatibility rating that shows how an electric vehicle would fit into their daily commute.

BMW has released 450 Mini E cars across the United States since 2009, and drivers of those vehicles will provide helpful tips to those looking to get into the all-electric market. As well, the mobile app will compare owner’s energy usage to other items, like televisions, to drive home the relevance of efficiency.

Users can also upload their data to BMW’s website to get a report about how switching to an electric vehicle could save gasoline money and reduce CO2 emissions. The data will also be used by BMW researchers to help understand how customers use their cars in real-world scenarios.
