Off-Road Electric Motorcycle Can Be On-Road Commuter

For zero-emission on and off-road thrills, there’s a new kid in town: the EMAX 72DS electric motorcycle from California-based Electric Moto Corporation (aka EMOT.)

Part of a very cool trend in small-scale American EV manufacturing, this electric two-wheeler features a 14 kW, 72-volt battery pack that will provide three hours of run time on a charge, according to EMOT. The bike is both off-road capable and street legal, according to Autoblog Green, making it a head-turning commuter EV as well. (With a top range of 60 miles per hour, you may even want to take it out on the highway.)

EMOT claims the electric motor on the EMAX 72DS puts out 21 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque (nearly 30 lb-ft), and features an aluminum frame, Talon hubs, Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspenders. The price? Just under $10,000.
