Weird Solar Powered Stuff: A Photo Gallery

We all know that solar energy can be used in many innovative ways to power homes, charge electrical devices, and even power vehicles. Some of them might be cutting-edge, but for the most part, solar-powered inventions are pretty easy to wrap your head around,  can be put to practical purposes and make sense in, well, reality.

And then there are these. In this photo gallery, we invite you to look at some of the more bizarre solar-powered devices we’ve reported on in the past, from a machine that creates sand sculpture to a moving, shrub-shaped automobile. The solar energy is being used, it should be noted, in essentially the same ways that the more expected solar devices do: it is used to provide an electric charge and/or power motors. But it’s the application of this technology that makes these items so notable. So check out the photos below (which you can click on for more information) and get your weird on.
