Solar-Powered iPod Speaker Does Eco Tunes for the Great Outdoors

If you’d like to rock some tunes at your next pool party, picnic or barbeque, consider the Soulra Solar Powered iPod Speaker. Not only does it amplify your MP3 player with exceptional audio, it looks a lot like a mini-boom box with a flip out solar panel, sure to be a conversation piece.

According to Green Diary, the Soulra’s built-in solar panel–which charges the gadget via rechargeable lithium-ion batteries–gives the speaker enough power to for 7 hours of nonstop tunes via a full-range 8-watt RMS speaker. The Soulra is water and splash resistant, too–surely enough to withstand the vagaries of wet children and the antics of your sun-addled friends. It comes complete with remote control, so you can change the track and adjust the volume, etc., without having to leave the comfort of your beach towel or deck chair.

As an added bonus–for all your hip-hop and R&B lovers–the Soulra comes with a bass boost option for “stronger low-end performance when desired.”  At $199, all these goodies don’t come cheap, but if you spend a lot of time with friends in the great outdoors, it might be a justifiable investment.
