SunDanzer Fridges and Freezers Draw Power From Solar Energy

It seems at first counter-intuitive: fridges and freezers powered by that burning hot orb in the sky? But believe it or not, the solar refrigerator and freezer is a real thing, available from SunDanzer.

According to AzoCleantech, these DC-powered, ultra efficient refrigerators and freezers are said to have low-cost power systems, low energy consumption and low expense for operation. The units feature 4.33″ of polyurethane insulation (optimized, apparently, for fluctuations in solar electricity levels) and coated steel cabinets, along with a brushless DC motor compressor that operates on 12 or 24 VDC.

While these chest-style models are ideal for anyone with a photovoltaic system at home, they also work well with any other source of off-grid power, as low energy consumption also enables the 50L refrigerator and freezer to be powered from batteries, fuel cells or wind.
