Sharp Corporation has demonstrated its intent to stay on the cutting edge (pun intended) of green and mobile technology with the impending release in China of the Sharp SH6230C, a mobile phone that employs a built-in solar charger for on-the-go charging. It is a great idea, though not quite as stylish as the new Puma Phone.
According to Green Launches, the compact SH6230C’s solar module “enables the phone to juice itself up using energy from the sun,” leaving you free to jibber jabber to your heart’s content without fear of the shrill and telling beep that signifies a low battery. Cell phone junkies won’t have to worry about sacrificing cool tech specs in favor of eco-friendly design: the SH6203 boasts a 2.9-inch LCD screen and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. Other specs, as well as the all-important price point, have not yet been announced.
A press release also brought to light two other Sharp phones pending release in the Chinese market later this year: the SH6220C and SH6228C, each of which will use “low power display” LCD screens that feature optimal visibility even in brightly lit areas.
