“Simpler, more reliable solar?” A “plug and play” solar electricity system? Okay, now you’ve got our attention. That’s what the SunSine AC from Greenray–thought to be the world’s first solar appliance–seems to offer.
Ecofriend reports that the SunSine AC module comes equipped with an integrated micro-inverter that converts the direct current (DC) produced by its photovoltaic panels into home-usable alternating current (AC) without the need for a specialized system. That’s great news for an industry that has up to this point required all kinds of complicated stuff like grid-tie inverters, mounting hardware and wiring to get folks equipped with solar electricity at home.
According to Greenray, the SunSine AC system contains fewer parts and requires fewer steps to set up than conventional solar electricity systems, while offering a single model for both commercial and residential applications, de-energized wiring (for safety), 5-25% more energy and increased smart-home monitoring capabilities.
