Juicy MacBook Solar Charger Boasts Durability

Planning on telecommuting to the office while through-hiking the Appalachian Trail? We didn’t think so–but if you were, you’d probably want the Apple Juicz solar laptop charger for the MacBook in your rucksack.

The Kansas-based company QuickerTek is now offering 27- and 55-watt Apple Juicz solar power chargers compatible with Apple’s entire MacBook line. Depending on the wattage of the charger you choose and the model of your MacBook, the devices can fully charge your laptop in anywhere from 5 to 12 hours, (provided access to direct sunlight.) The chargers fold up easily and feature a three-foot cable extension for connecting to your computer, as well as a two volt cigarette lighter connection.

The product website wants to let you know that the Apple Juicz is “not one of those goofy trickle chargers that barely keeps a LED lit ” and suggests Mount Everest, Antarctica and Iraq as prime destinations to gauge the durability of these chargers. The Apple Juicz runs  $700 for the 27-watt version, $1200 for the 55-watt. .
