Electrolux Vacuum Gives New Life To Old Car Parts

If you already think vacuuming sucks, consider the amount of carbon emissions generated by your least favorite activity. Would a spanky new green vacuum cleaner help? We think it might. The new Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green Vacuum Cleaner claims not only to use 33 percent less juice than a conventional model, but to operate “silently,” despite its 1250 watt motor.

The new Electrolux gets extra eco points for forward thinking when it comes to sourcing and recycling the materials used to make the new Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green. Constructed out of 55 percent recycled plastics reclaimed from old cars (which, according to Electrolux, cuts overall energy usage involved in its manufacture by 90 percent) it’s also 90 percent recyclable–a major plus for anyone concerned with purchasing electronics that contribute as little as possible to the growing problem of e-waste. Even the packaging it comes in utilizes 56 percent recycled materials.

Although the Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green Vacuum Cleaner claims to be the world’s most eco-friendly vacuum cleaner, you may still want to shop around, as there are higher end models that use even less electricity. But for the money–and considering the entire eco-picture–at £150 (around $240.00) the new Electrolux might be just the green pick-me-up you’ve been looking for.
