A fuel cell partnership between auto manufacturer Suzuki and Intelligent Energy, a developer of fuel cell and hydrogen generation technologies, produced a few years back the the Crosscage fuel cell motorbike, These two companies are now at it again, unveiling at the recent Tokyo Motor Show a fuel cell scooter.
The Suzuki Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter, as it is being called, is said to be “a demonstration of the potential for zero emissions motorcycles to significantly reduce emissions around the world.” It sports a hydrogen fuel tank, a self-declared good riding range and Intelligent Energy’s latest fuel cell engine. It is not known if this model will ever hit city streets, however.
“The zero-emissions Burgman scooter is the latest product of the successful commercial relationship between Suzuki and Intelligent Energy”, said Dr. Henri Winand, CEO at Intelligent Energy, in a statement.. “Of course, these clean fuel cell engine powered motorcycles are not simply for motor shows, and can be widely available to everyone in the near future.”
