Leading Industry Executives Join Second Annual Connected Car Expo
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 1, 2014) – The Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show®) today announced its newly selected conference director and advisory board members, recruited to shape the 2014 Connected Car Expo (CCE). The conference director is an automotive industry veteran while the CCE Advisory Board is comprised of influential thought leaders from some of the top companies shaping the connected car space including Aeris Communications, AT&T, Ford, Google, MERA, Pandora and Strategy Analytics.
With input from the advisory board, the conference director will set the strategic direction and conference agenda for the Connected Car Expo held in conjunction with the LA Auto Show Press Days November 18, 19 and 20. The team will also help guide thought leadership presentations at the CCE event taking place at CTIA’s Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas September 9, 10 and 11, 2014. New for this year at the LA Auto Show Press Days is a Connected City Summit, which will address how technology is transforming everything from transportation to safety to infrastructure in modern cities. The conference director and advisory board will be instrumental in shaping all of these events.
Andy Gryc, as the CCE Conference Director will also help ensure the show speakers, topics, format and exhibitors are leading the industry in its rapid evolution. For more than two decades, at companies like QNX, OnStar, and Hewlett-Packard, Gryc has built his reputation through hands-on experience in many facets of the automotive industry from software architecture and engineering to technical sales and product marketing. Most recently, he was the Automotive Product Marketing Manager at QNX and the Co-Chair of the W3C Automotive Business Group for standardizing HTML5 in cars. Andy is currently the Co-Founder of a technology-focused marketing business, CX3 Marketing.

CCE Advisory Board members include:
Michelle Avary, Vice President, Automotive Strategy, Aeris Communications
Mrs. Avary is responsible for the overall management of Aeris’ automotive strategy, product planning, and business development. A 15-year veteran of automotive telematics, Michelle previously led Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. telematics strategies. Most recently she was the Director of Technology Strategy for Harman International where she led the development of technology strategies for all of Harman’s business lines.
Chris Cook, President, Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA)
As the president of the U.S. trade association representing over 1,000 mobile electronics companies and owning and producing the annual tradeshow, KnowledgeFest®, and the trade publication Mobile Electronics® Magazine, Cook combines his 27-year automotive consumer electronics experience with expertise with in-vehicle consumer electronics integration for both Aftermarket and OEM.
John Ellis, Global Technologist and Head of Developer Program, Ford
Ellis is responsible for expanding Ford’s “brought-in” strategy of integrating mobile technology into vehicles. He oversees a team of developers and engineers responsible for creating the connected car and striking the right balance between embedded and off-board technology so drivers can seamlessly extend their mobile lives into their vehicles.
Brian Greaves, Director Product Development Emerging Devices, AT&T
Brian is responsible for leading the development and implementation of connected vehicle services and enhancements in the telematics and infotainment sector. This includes managing all development programs and initiatives on the AT&T Drive Platform and overseeing the AT&T Drive Studio.
Roger C. Lanctot, Associate Director, Global Automotive Practice, Strategy Analytics
With more than 25 years of experience in electronics industry market research, consulting and journalism, Lanctot advises clients on in-vehicle safety, infotainment and connectivity systems anticipating market, regulatory, and technological developments in hardware, software and business models.
Chris McKillop, Manager, Android Platform, Google
McKillop leads an engineering team responsible for Living Room and Entertainment products within Google’s Android organization. He was previously Vice President of Software at Jawbone; Sr. Director, webOS Linux at Palm; Team Lead, iOS WiFi & Bluetooth at Apple, and a Software Engineer at QNX Software Systems.
Geoff Snyder, Vice President of Automotive Business Development, Pandora
Snyder is focused on the extension of Pandora into vehicles. As consumers demand a better in-car music experience, he has developed relationships with representatives of the world’s top automotive brands working as a liaison between engineering and business teams to make personalized radio on-the-road a reality.
