Kohl’s Says Charge It (Your EV, That Is)

At Kohl’s Department stores across the country shoppers will soon be able to pick up a new pair of shoes and a set of towels, all while charging their electric vehicle. Kohl’s has announced that it will be working with Ecotality and Coulomb Technologies to install electric vehicle charging stations at 33 different Kohl’s locations.

The store is working with Ecotality to identify sites for 14 Blink Pedestal EV charging stations across Arizona, California, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington. Each Kohl’s store will have a minimum of two reserved parking spots for electric vehicles, and several sites will have up to four chargers.

Kohl’s has also partnered with Coulomb Technologies to install a ChargePoint Network of charging stations at 19 additional stores. One Coulomb charging station will be installed in the parking lots of select stores in California, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The store said the new charging stations are part of its commitment to being a leader in environmentally responsible retailing. To date, the company has more than 110 solar locations in nine states, and recently launched two wind locations.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ranked Kohl’s as first overall of its green power partners.
