Grove, a maker of sustainable bamboo cases and covers for Apple products, is expanding into Macbook backs. The Portland, Oregon based company announced on its blog recently plans for the Grove Bamboo Back, made from sustainable Moso bamboo and pricing at $29 starting.
The handcrafted Grove Bamboo Back, according to the manufacturer, ships in about one to two weeks after ordered. It is available for 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air laptops, as well as 13-, 15- and 17-inch Macbook Pro notebook computers. It can be customized via a personalized cutout in the center chosen from a collection of over 40 different icons.
Grove notes the Bamboo Backs are uber thin at .035 inches and extremely lightweight. They apply to the back of the MacBook via a special adhesive described as similar to that of double stick tape that reportedly won’t damage or leave any residue on your Apple laptop of you have to remove the backing.
The Bamboo Backs sport a hand oiled finish and the icon glows in the dark when on the Macbook, owing to the light up Apple icon on the computer.
