You may have heard that Energy Star has tightened its belt in recent years regarding independent, third-party verification of manufacturer claims. Now LG Electronics would like you to know that more of its home appliances and consumer electronics have achieved the new “Energy Star Most Efficient 2011” designation than any other manufacturer.
This new Energy Star designation names the most efficient products in each category in an effort to help buyers choose those that perform best. The first two refrigerators in the industry to meet these qualifications bear the LG seal, as do eight LED HDTVs and five clothes washers.
An example of the kind of tech behind this Most Efficient designation from Energy Star are LG’s two refrigerators that took this honor. Both make use of LG’s redesigned compressors, said to be better than conventional technology in this area by modulating its output based on need and saving 8 to 17 of the energy typically used by conventional models.
This Most Efficient recognition from Energy Star, which represents approximately the top five percent of products in their respective categories, is also in line with recent green headlines for LG regarding its entire line of Carbonfree (i.e., carbon offset) electronics, which will become available in early 2012.
