Solar Powers Funky Light Wire Lamp

If one of the bombs that Wil-E Coyote was always trying to use to blow away the Roadrunner somehow sprouted a glowing wire, perhaps this is what it would look like. The E-M – Electronic Melody lamp concept (which comes to us via Yanko Design) is just as strange as it sounds, incorporating eco-friendly design into a real conversation piece for your home.

Designed by Fuming Wu, the EM lamp makes use of a solar panel, LED lighting and “biodegradable materials” (no report as to what these materials actually are). The solar cell sucks up the rays of the sun to provide power for the light, housed in an odd little dart-like device at the end of a repositionable light wire that plugs back into the afore-mentioned Wil-E bomb.

You can twist this light wire into any shape your heart desires, exercising your creativity on a daily basis if desired. A big squiggle Monday morning, perhaps, and a zig zag on Tuesday. Feeling down? Maybe a frown.

A cool concept, but we wonder, what’s with the name? Is it an Electronic Melody because it keeps changing shape, like a song sung by different people? Or is there some hidden component that will actually allow this bizarre device to make music? As with any number of concept designs, there’s a good chance something has been lost in translation.
