Electric Motorcycle Elegantly Designed

With the exception of some recent DIY models by a hobbyist in Massachusetts who has been converting vintage bikes at home, the majority of electric motorcycles we cover here at EarthTechling are modern, sport-style designs most would label as “crotch rockets.”

Dutch company Orphiro is changing things up a bit by releasing a new e-bike this September that’s stylish in a classic sense with modern appeal. Not surprisingly, the motorcycle’s unique look has garnered praise online, and we’re more than happy to add our voice to the choir.

As you can see from the photo above, the bike has a large mid-section in order to store a 72 volt lithium-ion battery system, which gives the electric vehicle a top speed of 75 miles per hour and a 60 mile range on a full charge.

In terms of performance, the Orphio won’t beat out models from manufacturers like Brammo or MotoCzysz, but it does give consumers a more relaxed riding position for those who want to travel on an elegantly crafted machine.

Love It! That is the best thing that I have seen since they promised us flying cars for the late 20th century. Such a relief to see that not all people on the planet are deranged. Personally I like the ‘Zero’ motorcycle model line best so far, as these bikes are really affordable. (http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-ds/).
