Biomass Plant Coming To N. Carolina

Enviva LP currently has a biomas wood pellet manufacturing plant under construction in Ahoskie, North Carolina, and recently announced that it will soon be building another plant in Garysburg.

According to a recent release, the Garysburg plant will create 62 green jobs, reimbursed at an average annual salary of $38,484, not including benefits, (as compared to the Northampton County average annual wage is $27,976). Enviva also expects to invest $60 million in the plant in the next three years.

This manufacturing plant project was made possible in part by a $300,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which seeks to “recruit and expand quality jobs in high value-added, knowledge-driven industries,” providing financial assistance to businesses or industries making significant efforts to expand in North Carolina.

Through the Garysburg plant, Enviva will add more manufacturing capacity to fill the growing demand for industrial-grade wood pellets from clients across the U.S. and Europe taking advantage of energy efficient pellet stove technology. The company recently achieved Sustainable Forestry Initiative Certification, and plans to source all raw pellet materials locally, adding additional jobs through its logging and forestry supply chain.

How the hell is this helpful to the environment and how did it make it’s way onto a green technology news page in a positively worded light??
