Green Energy Becomes A Telecom Offering

In a rather interesting move Cincinnati Bell (CB) has become the first telecom provider to offer affordable green energy to its customers under the new company Cincinnati Bell Energy (CBE).

CB has partnered with Viridian Energy, a leading green energy supplier, to deliver a 100 percent green product that is offered at a discount to the local utility. CBE is regionally sourced from wind power, resulting in a reportedly positive environmental and economic impact. The green energy will be made available to residents of southwestern Ohio, where it will be offered at a reported annual savings over the traditional utility rate.

While not noted in the press materials, Duke Energy looks to be involved in this program as well. It will continue to deliver electricity to the home, read the meter and provide support and maintenance. It will still also send you your bill, now with Cincinnati Bell Energy listed as your supplier of choice.

According to CBE, switching to the company will avoid 23,760 pounds of carbon emissions a year on an individual basis and could potentially save up to 35 percent on electric rates.
