The U.K. Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS)  seeks to build on that position with a new competition f its new Offshore Renewable Energy technology and innovation centre (TIC), focused on offshore wind, wave and tidal power tech.

This center will be one of at least six TICs designed to allow allow businesses to access equipment and expertise to help them commercialize new and emerging technology – and, by extension, to help the UK capture a share of the burgeoning global market for offshore power. The governement has committed more than £200 million (around $327 million USD) to developing a network of these TICs over the next four years.
