Green Concept Home A Nice Sight

Husband and wife team David Huang and Millie Leung have a mutual interest in homes. (He’s a builder, she’s an interior designer.) Recently, they got together with Modus V Studio Architects on their Green Concept Home, or the H House.

This concept home – the first LEED-certified single family residence in Bellevue, Washington – was created to exemplify green building principles, as well as to demonstrate that a stylish, modern home need not break the bank. The home was completed in October 2010.

ArchDaily reports that eco-friendly features of the home – nicknamed for the characteristic “H” shape of its floorplan layout – include structural insulated panels, a rainwater harvesting system, a solar hot water/tankless hot water system, a heat recovery ventilator, radiant floor heating, and passive solar orientation. It features Energy Star rated appliances and windows;  low-flow water fixtures; no VOC finishes; renewable/environmentally friendly construction materials and drought-tolerant landscaping.
