In the scope of American auto shows, the New York International Auto Show certainly ranks near the top in terms of importance. It is ongoing this year from April 22-May 1 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on 11th Ave between 34 & 40 Streets. It is not uncommon for auto manufacturers to make debuts of new vehicles at this particular show in New York City – Lexus, for example, debuted its LF-Gh hybrid when the show opened just a few days ago.
The 2011 edition of the New York auto show turned out to be a green car mecca this year. As mentioned by the Natural Resource Defense Council, the spotlight was cast not on “the latest muscle cars but instead on the hottest market segments, fuel-efficient hybrid electric vehicles and high efficiency, conventional gasoline cars that get 40 MPG or more.” We happened to have a staff member in New York City during the show’s opening days and grabbed a few digital stills of some of the green cars on display.
