Micro Condos Get PDX’s Green Lifestyle

D. R. Horton may be a national home builder, but with Division 43–its new “micro home” condo development–the company clearly wants to show Portland, Oregon, that it understands the unique priorities of the eco-conscious urban dweller.

Each home at Division 43 weighs in with just 364 to 687 square feet of “well-planned space” and is constructed with salvaged and sustainably-produced materials. Located in southeast Portland, with easy access to restaurants, shopping and entertainment, the development also features a “neighborhood within a neighborhood” with a community garden and a common area where residents can socialize.

Division 43 was created to cater to those who covet the car-free lifestyle, as it’s located in a bike- and pedestrian-friendly area that also lies in close proximity to public transportation and a Zipcar station.

Dr. Horton is currently taking applications for Division 43, which it lauds as “Simple. Green. Affordable.”
