Geely McCar Is A Two-in-One Green Vehicle

What if your hybrid car gave birth to a baby electric scooter? That seems to the be question Chinese automaker Geely wanted to answer with its unique new vehicle called the McCar that was unveiled at this year’s Auto Shanghai convention.

As physorg.com notes, the car is not named after a well-known fast food franchise, however, it’s hard not to think of a Happy Meal when seeing images of the electric scooter rolling out of the hybrid vehicle. The company says the car is designed for traffic-jam solutions, but unless you can blast out the back hatch, leaving the main vehicle on the road as you zip between lanes, just how having an electric scooter solves traffic problems is unclear.

The innovation of the McCar should be applauded, useful or not, as the scooter charges as the car drives – a novel concept that may spur further designs. According to reports, the McCar can run up to 31 miles in all-electric mode, has a top speed of 80 miles per hour and takes two hours to recharge. The scooter has a range of 18 miles and a top speed of 18 miles per hour.
