Federated Media Publishing and WordPress have partnered up to introduce Ecopressed.com . As the name implies, Ecopressed is a website built around publishing eco-related content. The partnership describes the site as a “one-stop destination for consumers to get the latest news, topics and trends on innovation, sustainability and energy initiatives” and draws from the published works of some 30 million independent web content producers, including some of FM’s own “premium blog talent”. Articles are “hand picked” and meant to represent the very best in original, relevant and eco-centric content around which the most active conversations are taking place.
General Electric (GE) and their ecomagination initiative are also involved in the project, with a representative saying that “this site is…a way for us to engage with a new platform that will drive conversations around energy issues.”
While involvement from the likes of GE may lead some to question the line separating independent media and corporate sponsorship, it appears the goal of Ecopressed remains oriented around publishing the original work of bloggers whose passion for green technology, renewable energy and ecological awareness generates buzz and active conversations around eco-centric topics.
“Thousands of passionate and knowledgeable bloggers write about eco-related topics on WordPress.com every day and EcoPressed allows us to showcase their work,” said Toni Schneider, chief executive officer, Automattic, who are the creators of WordPress. “We look forward to working with Federated Media and a variety of other major brands to introduce more sites to cover topic areas like this one.”
