Solowheel A Strange Electric Unicycle Thing

Solowheel claims to be the smallest, greenest, most convenient “people mover” ever invented–a self-balancing electric unicycle more compact than any folding electric bike (and a whole lot more unique).

Frankly, this gizmo had us at “self-balancing electric unicycle,” but the gyroscope technology behind it is pretty cool, too. According to Greenlaunches, the Solowheel’s use of the gyroscope means that it accelerates when you lean forward and slows down when you lean back.

The Solowheel consists of gyro sensors, a 1000-Watt motor and a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, which captures energy cruising downhill and slowing down/stopping (via regenerative braking, like a Prius). All this tech comes packaged in a slim case with leg pads and a handle for carrying, and weighs around twenty pounds.

Apparently, the Solowheel is easy to learn and very sensitive in terms of steering and handling. No word yet on cost, but Inventist is currently soliciting individuals and businesses interested in re-selling this device.
