iPad 2 Bamboo Case A Lovely, Lovely Thing

We’ve long had a thing for the Portland-based design shop known as Grove, a team of artisans specializing in arty, personalized bamboo accessories for all your essential tech. They made a name for themselves with their unique iPhone cases, and now they’re back to protect your iPad 2 in style.

The Grove iPad 2 Case is constructed from quick-growing, renewable bamboo and good old fashioned leather. The bamboo back and side panels provide your tablet with structure, while the ultra-suede-lined leather cover keeps your screen free from fingerprints.

The cover is made of American, vegetable-tanned leather and incorporates magnets that automatically wake the iPad 2 when it’s opened, and put it to sleep when closed. The best part? The cover can be laser-engraved with many of Grove’s ever-expanding artist series designs–very cool!

Groves’ iPad 2 Cover is available at a special introductory price of $79.00 via pre-order. If, for some odd reason, this one doesn’t fit your fancy, there’s also a nice wooden iPad 2 case from Minot as well.

    • I think the idea of a bamboo iPad case is really cool. But that just looks like a cutting board with an iPad stuck inside it.

Green washing: c) adding something that isn’t needed and touting it’s eco-friendly aspects.u00a0 Not integral. Adding a nifty picture of a tree doesn’t make it green. nu00a0Solar powered ipad add-on with a usb connection? This is not it. (But they can be bought. Look online.) Solar powered cooling pad? nope. A company that replaces the case and recycles the older one? No, they aren’t offering that either. nDisappointing offering.
