GE Takes Electric Cars On Feel Good Tour

General Electric (GE) has a general interest in all things electric, the future of the electric vehicle (EV) in particular. Towards that end, the global research and manufacturing giant recently announced that it will  host an “electric vehicle experience tour” in seven U.S. cities.

Tour events–which will occur in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle during the month of March–will bring together GE experts, local businesses, industry leaders, and public sector stakeholders for educational workshops, test drives, and dialogue on the business case for “EV ecosystems.” Additional EV Experience Tour dates will be announced soon for  Austin, New York City, and Washington, D.C. this spring.

I think we need more strategies like this to accelerate the development & output of viable electric cars and have more R&D to take care of “speed bumps” in car design. Yes, pun intended.
I was just reading about the different electric cars that have been stalled in development. I am looking to buy a new vehicle in 2012, if my current car holds out, and I wonder what good options I will have then?
