Toyota, fresh off news it will be bringing two hybrid designs to the Geneva Motor Show, also plans to put on display its latest electric vehicle prototype within an iQ package. If you remember back to last last year, the Japanese automaker mentioned as part of its greater green car plan such a vehicle would available most likely by 2012 – and now here is the prototype to show that off.
Toyota, which is also co-developing an all-electric RAV4 with Tesla Motors, said of this iQ EV prototype that it is a four passenger seater with a new, flat lithium-ion battery pack design. The vehicle is focused upon being an in-city car, with a range of around 105km.
Current plans for this EV prototype, which will likely be more detailed at the Geneva Auto Show, include it undergoing trials in Europe this year, with the full production model coming out in 2012 like we previously mentioned. Interestingly, it will be available what looks like only as a lease option.
