Got a burned out 60-watt incandescent bulb? Before you replace it with the same old energy hog (soon to be extinct), Osram Sylvania would like you to know that there’s a greener, longer lasting alternative: their A-Line Ultra 12-watt LED bulb, now available at Lowe’s Home Improvement.
Wait, you say–how can a 12-watt bulb replace a 60-watt while still providing real illumination? The magic is in the “high-performance OSRAM LED module,” which boasts a color temperature of 2700 Kelvin and high color quality, with a color rendering index of 90. We’re not sure exactly how all that works, exactly, but the general gist is this: according to Osram Sylvania, the Ultra A-Line is currently the brightest LED bulb on the market, boasting 810 lumens of light.
The A-Line 12-watt LED bulb uses 80 percent less energy than its incandescent ancestor and lasts 25 times longer. They will be available on Lowes.com this month and in all Lowe’s stores by second-quarter 2011. Like Osram Sylvania’s other LED bulbs–the MR16, PAR20, PAR30, PAR38 and G25 types–the Ultra A-Line is dimmable and mercury-free.
