“Eco” and “performance” are two words Infiniti says it wants to put together with the 2013 electric vehicle it has in the works. Car connoisseurs wondering how exactly the company will accomplish that got a bit of a hint when Infiniti released a “sketch” of the five-seat luxury vehicle recently. And yes, there’s a reason there are scare quotes around sketch.
As one commenter on Autoblog put it, “Ehh, It looks more like a Photoshop smudge.” And another added, “That is so vague it could be anything.”
The press release issued by Infiniti actually talked more about the 2012 Infiniti M35h than the all-electric, which it began dropping hints about at the Tokyo Motor Show last fall. The M35 hybrid will make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the company said. But while the luxury brand is perhaps just dabbling in electric, its parent, Nissan, is going whole hog, particularly with its soon-to-be available Leaf.
