Natural and organic foods grocer Whole Foods is out today with a new iPhone app which focuses on helping its shoppers eat better and live better. It is called the Whole Foods Market Missions App and is available for free download through the iTunes App Store for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The Whole Foods Market Missions App is designed by Whole Foods to act as sort of a game for those wanting to better their lives through more than 70 challenges called Missions. These challenges, which are set to be of varying difficulty, encourage users to read “simple, practical advice on cooking, nutrition, green living, food storage and more,” unlocking badges along the way. as they take steps to better their wellness and live healthier lifestyles. Examples of badge titles include Organic Avenger, Local Yokel, and Nutty Ninja.
Users can create profiles through the app to track the badges they earn and their favorite tips, which can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, and email. The Missions App also includes a store locator to help one find nearby Whole Foods locations.
“At Whole Foods Market our shoppers often come to us for advice on how to take charge of their health,” said Chad Sarno, global culinary educator for Whole Foods Market, in a statement. “The Missions App helps iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users incorporate healthy foods, exercise, and more through simple, everyday steps.”
