Greenies Get New Portable Audio Gear

When it comes to greening your lifestyle, eco-friendly sound may not be the first thing on your mind. But if you’re already in the market for a set of ear-buds or headphones, why not check out the green alternatives?

The Grass Roots Collection by iWave Audio (which comes to us via Greenlaunches) feature sound essentials such as these as well as cases for iPhones and iPods, all of which incorporate “reusable, environmentally friendly and recyclable materials”– as far as we can see, a bit of wood worked into your average plastic wires and tubing. No mention on whether this wood was sourced responsibly, but at the very least it cuts down on the total amount of petroleum required to produce your sound-gear, and contributes to our fetish for electronic gizmos that incorporate trees.

Bear in mind that when you purchase sound-gear from iWaveAudio’s Grass Roots Collection, you’re buying into their ‘eco-conscious’ target market, which stands right alongside their “bling” target market–for which they’ve created an entire line encased with with rhinestones for that ghetto-fabulous look. Still, these wood-finished headphones, ear-buds and iPad/iPhone cases are priced modestly–$24.99 for the cases, and $19.99 and $29.99 for the ear-buds and headphones, respectively, and do look pretty cool.
