For those of you who love spending extended periods of time outside with all your portables, here’s an odd, bulky, green-power solution: the 365 Days Generating System concept by Sun-J Vang (which comes to us by way of Ecofriend).
This endearingly-named device (we think there may be something lost in translation here) captures energy both from the sun, via that humongous solar panel, and wind, via a revolving, kinetic-sculpture-looking gizmo on top. All this renewable energy feeds an internal battery, which can then be used to recharge portable electronic devices such as cellphones, PMPs and GPS devices via a USB port.
To be fair, if you’re car-camping for extended periods of time, possibly with friends, this off grid charger might not be all that in impractical. Then again, if you have the car close by (necessary to transport this thing), you could always charge your portables via a car-charger. So perhaps, again, this only makes sense if you and your friends are going to be out there long enough that charging your portables via your vehicles would risk running down the batteries.
