You’d think that with all the freely abundant Vitamin D to be had in the Grand Canyon State, Arizona’s capital city would be all abuzz with solar. Sadly, this is not the case–which is why we’re happy to see Beazer Homes, one of the top ten builders in the country, introduce its first solar-powered eSMART Green home with the opening this weekend of Terraza at Villago in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
High-end, head-to-toe super eco net zero homes these are not, but as mid-range, solar-powered residences with a variety of energy and water saving features, the eSMART Green model homes at Terraza at Villago look as if they might be what “green for the masses” might look like. They feature spray foam insulation and an array of energy-saving products that Beazer claims combine to make the homes up to 46 percent more energy efficient than comparably sized houses built to standard code; they also incorporate water conservation and healthy home features.
“Our eSMART Green homes are designed to maximize savings while minimizing the overall environmental impact of building and maintaining a home,” said Martin Hernandez, vice president of sales for Beazer Homes in Phoenix, in a statement. “We’ve built in greater efficiency from the ground up which results in lower operating costs for our homeowners.”
