Samsung Debuts Side-By-Side Energy Efficient Refrigerator

Samsung has unveiled, as part of its new 2010 home appliance line up, a new side-by-side refrigerator it says offers best in class energy efficiency. This particular new refrigerator is the RS267, and it prices in a range from around $1,000 to $1,800.

The Samsung RS267 is said to meet energy efficiency levels that have it using up to 30 percent less energy than Department of Energy minimum standards. One of the primary reasons behind this, says Samsung, is a special “twin cooling system” that “controls and generates cooling air for the refrigerator and freezer separately, with two independent evaporators, two independent fan systems and precise electronic control.” This, coupled with a proprietary insulation system, electric temperature sensors and LED tower lighting, have earned this frig an Energy Star label.

The RS267 will be available in black, white, stainless steel and stainless platinum finishes. Other features include an external digital display, a clear view ice maker, temperature controlled drawers and special “tilt pockets” for easier removal of bulky items.
