Rare Marketour 1964 Model E Early Electric Car Pops Up On eBay

Long before electric car development was even considered by mainstream manufacturers, small companies like Marketour Electric Cars of Long Beach CA came and went, showcasing their version of what a carbon-free future might look like. One of Marketour’s rare electric cars – a 1964 Model E – is up for sale on eBay from MotoeXotica, a dealer of “pioneer classic cars.”

Marketour apparently began production of its small electric car in 1964. It would be considered by today’s standards probably a low speed vehicle, designed for neighborhood use only. It runs on a 36-volt electric motor and gets around 50 miles on a single charge. This particular one apparently heralds from Arizona, as MotoeXotica says that included with the purchase is a hand written letter from the company explaining colors and taxes, copies of the original Arizona registration card and a copy of the Arizona Certificate of Title.

This electric car is being sold on a bill of sale only. Checking out the photos and reading the description, this used vehicle is definitely a bare bones experience. It reportedly is in very good condition, rolling on three tires and offering a single hand control for steering. The inside seat is vinyl and has enough room for two passengers. It is outfitted also with turn signals, headlights and taillights as well.
