Another company showcasing a variety of more green-friendly computer monitors at the Consumer Electronics Show this week was ViewSonic. One series in particular – the VX50 line – was being mentioned by ViewSonic as being eco-focused. Two monitors were being offered up in this grouping, including the 24-inch VX2450wm-LED (priced around $300) and the 22-inch VX2250wm-LED (priced around $220).
The eco-focus of these displays, which is pretty typical of similarly-marketed monitors, has to do with energy efficiency and lack of select harmful chemicals. Both models of the VX50 line up have a “a mercury free WLED backlight that automatically detects image signal and intelligently controls backlight brightness” and are also Energy Star compliant.
Looking beyond the green of these displays, one also finds some other useful features. These include a nice body design, 1920 x 1080 HD resolution, built-in stereo speakers with surround sound and DVI/VGA inputs. Both should be available in April.
